Altano Energy has secured project financing for the construction of Dama de Baza, an onshore wind project with an installed capacity of 40.5 MW, located in the province of Granada. This will be Altano Energy’s first wind project in Spain and marks a significant step forward in the company’s growth strategy focused on technological and geographical diversification.
The financing has been secured with Banco Sabadell, totaling 38 M €. With this operation, Sabadell reaffirms its commitment to Altano and to promoting the energy transition.
Altano Energy received legal advice from Uría Menéndez while on the banking side, Watson Farley & Williams acted as legal advisor, Altermia as technical advisor, and Willis Towers Watson as insurance advisor.
The Dama de Baza project will feature high-tech turbines supplied by Vestas. This is the first project within a broader portfolio Altano is building in Granada, where the company intends to invest more than 200 million euros in the coming years.
With this project, Altano adds wind technology to its portfolio, complementing the hydro and solar assets already operational.
Miguel Sanchez Praena, CEO of Altano Energy, said:
“We are very proud to have successfully closed this transaction with the participation of leading entities such as Banco Sabadell. Dama de Baza is a strategic asset for Altano which allows us to advance our strategy of building a high-quality portfolio with technological diversification.”
Roger Font García, Head of Project Finance Global Energy EMEA – Sabadell, said:
“We would like to thank Altano for once again placing their trust in Banco Sabadell with this new project. Banco Sabadell hopes that this new operation will contribute to the growth of renewable energy in Spain, supporting the society’s decarbonization goals.”
